Dog Days...

It's HOT! Air conditioning is not a standard feature of housing in the NW unless the structure was built within the last 5-7 years. Although we've managed to stay relatively cool, poor Georgia is having trouble resting.

We've done a lot of rocking (check out the zoned look on both of us!) and then she just zonks...forget swaddling even the legs in this kind of weather!

Yesterday we laid pretty low...today was slightly cooler so we ventured out for our postpartum birthing class reunion. All the families and babies born in the last six months come and meet others as well as reunite with their birthing class. Our class was small and did not represent well! Only one other couple came and we had actually met their baby at a class (she came early so they came back to tell the rest of us we'd do great!).

It was fun to chat in the shade as we watched dozens and dozens of babies interact! Many of the baby girls looked like their dads and the boys favored their moms! I met a mom with a 5 week old baby...she looked tiny to me and I commented that Georgia had never been that little. Turns out, she had, as this baby girl, at birth, weighed 11 lb. 14 oz. and like me, her mom had been told to expect a 7 or 8 lb. baby! We also met two families with daughters who have birthmarks like Georgia's...they are pretty rare birthmarks and to see three in a random group of babies was surprising!

I maintain that one of the best things about being a parent is being with other parents and their babies!
